After more than 35 years of the successful, exclusive PROMAT brand, it was time to make a great thing even better. What's new: The fresh, new TECWERK brand stands for added advantages through a modern, appealing brand image, an expanded, user-oriented product assortment, and targeted marketing – for a higher profile and better visibility. What’s important is what is staying the same: TECWERK is maintaining its commitment to quality, and to delivering a convincing price-performance ratio. Quality, functionality and durability are the key attributes that set apart the exclusive brand.

  • 1987 - Own brand PROMAT off to a great start

    1987 launches the success story of the exclusive PROMAT brand in tools and tool technology. For three decades, PROMAT impresses with outstanding quality and sets new standards in product availability, attractive prices, and assortment range.

    PROMAT brand products are produced to the highest level, and meet the highest standards of current DIN and ISO regulations. As a speciality wholesaler brand, PROMAT is designed for professional trade and industrial users. PROMAT stands for the consistent combination of quality and customer proximity – today, as in the past.

  • 1989 - first product: The PROMAT sack truck

    A practical sack truck is one of PROMAT's first products. This robust and versatile cart lays the cornerstone for a brand that stands for quality and reliability. The assortment starts off with popular tools like pliers, screwdrivers and bits – classic hand tools, made in Germany. That’s where the PROMAT success story begins as an exclusive NORDWEST brand, which would develop continuously in coming years and become established among speciality wholesalers.

  • 1990 - The first PROMAT speciality wholesalers

    Initial dealers decide to carry PROMAT and include the products in their assortments. In Germany, the pioneers include Werkzeug Jäger, Fritz Weg and Delker, while Ortner & Stanger and Aichinger start the trend in Austria. Increasing demand shows that PROMAT’s products offer an optimal, cost-effective alternative for customers.

  • 1995 - First logo change and introduction of centralised settlement

    The PROMAT logo gets a new colour scheme: Instead of turquoise blue, it is now a darker blue – a symbol for professionalism and durability. The brand is also handled through centralised settlement for the first time this same year – an important step for becoming more widespread among specialist wholesalers.

  • 1996 - Successful ad campaign

    PROMAT initiates an eye-catching advertising campaign, placing the focus in their ads on athletes like rowers, boxers, and chess players. The European-wide campaign generates attention, and underscores the brand’s commitment to performance. It provides PROMAT with more visibility as an exclusive brand, and helps establish it among end customers.

  • 2008 - PROMAT cracks 20 million for the first time

    The brand reaches a special milestone: For the first time, it exceeds 20 million euros in revenue, a clear sign of the trust of a growing number of specialist trade partners, and increasing customer demand for high-quality tools at a lower price.

  • 2014 - New strong man brand image

    For almost ten years, universal tradesman PIT was the face of the PROMAT brand. Masculine, appealing, and confident, the exclusive brand gets a new look and boosts its assertiveness – the assortment grows to over 6,000 articles.

  • 2016 - NOW Chemicals converts to PROMAT

    All chemical and technical products running under the NOW brand name are converted to PROMAT – such as thread locker and universal dilution agents. This expands the product range and increases its importance for specialist wholesalers. This decision marks a strategic step to strengthen and consolidate the own brand, and shows trust in its potential for success.

  • 2018 - First operating equipment brochure

    The product range is expanded successively, and the available operating equipment grows steadily over time. The first PROMAT brochure with a comprehensive assortment of professional workbenches, attachments, individually configurable drawer cabinets, dividers, foam inserts and vending machines appears.

  • 2019 - Success by the numbers

    Ongoing development continues, and another record is set in 2019 – with net revenues of over 30 million euros. This success not only proves the strength of our network, but also the reliability and durability that characterise PROMAT and now TECWERK.

  • 2025 - PROMAT is becoming TECWERK!

    A new chapter begins: PROMAT is becoming TECWERK! With this rebranding, we hope to modernise the brand to achieve even broader market acceptance within Germany and beyond. At the same time, we are maintaining the proven quality and reliability of the exclusive brand, with new focal areas like individuality, sustainability and partnership. These are values that will guide us as a provider and associated group, along with our specialist trade partners, into a successful future. We will remain true to our roots under the new name, and combine decades of expertise with a fresh, modern image and specific appeals to target audiences. With TECWERK, we are creating the tools and solutions of the future together. Modern, reliable and perfectly tailored for the professional requirements of users in construction, the trades, industry and municipalities.
